Job overview

Derby City and South Derbyshire CAMHS are incredibly excited to be recruiting into their Lead Young Person Expert by Experience vacancy offering an opportunity for a young person with lived experience to join our highly accredited CAMHS Participation Team. 

Working across the CAMHS teams, the appointed candidate will work to ensure that the principles of participation and co-production remain at the heart of our service, and that all involvement projects remain meaningful and appropriate. The appointed candidate will ensure that service that children, young people and families are heard, acknowledged and represented at all stages of care and within all service evaluation and developments. The role will include partnership working with other services and organisations such as local authorities, community groups, advocacy groups, other members of the CAMHS participation team and wider networks.

A key task is to actively promote the culture of participation throughout the service and to facilitate a shared understanding that participation is everybody’s responsibility.

Main duties of the job

Continuing to embed participation and coproduction across the CAMHS service through a range of existing and newly established workstreams and projects 

To do this you will need to:

·   Experience of understanding the needs and challenges of young people with mental health problems through a lived experience lens i.e. having own experience of mental health problems and accessing services

·       Willingness to develop experience of working with children, young people and families and participating in groups through training and mentoring

·       IT skills e.g. Word, Outlook, Excel, Web Design, Powerpoint

·       Your communication skills and flair for building relationships will be excellent

·       Willingness to develop the confidence to speak in large and small groups

·       You will be caring and supportive as well as emotionally resilient, highly organised and open to working within changing environments

·       You will be able to travel independently across the locality areas.
