Job overview
We have a fabulous opportunity for a highly motivated, enthusiastic Phlebotomist, to work with the Integrated Community Teams across Derby City.
Hours of working would be between 8.30am and 4.30pm; over 5 days; Monday-Friday.
Part time and full time hours will be considered.
Our team focusses on providing excellent patient-centred care to people. Therefore, it is essential that you have a keen interest and experience in this field.
The successful candidates will also have the ability to work as part of a team as well as on their own and be flexible. Care is delivered within patients own homes and clinic settings.
If you can demonstrate good communication skills, have the ability to plan and organise competent, evidence-based, clinical care delivery - we want to hear from you!
Main duties of the job
Carry out venepuncture and other appropriate healthcare procedures in patients’ own home or in community health care settings, acting within the procedures outlined in the Phlebotomy competency framework.
Undertake appropriate patient care assessments as required, such as baseline observations.
Escalate any concerns regarding patients’ welfare to the registered members of the Integrated Community Team in a timely manner.
Once a visit is complete, enter contemporaneous notes in the relevant patient information system.
Use DCHS patient information systems as needed, including accepting e-referrals.
Recognise the importance of confidentiality and sensitivity of issues at all times, and be able to act using the utmost discretion and confidentiality.
Additional duties and ad hoc requests may be required within this role and the need to be flexible is essential.

During the pandemic response we have led the implementation of public vaccination centres in collaboration with partners across health and social care.

Essential criteria
- Educated to GCSE level at Grade C / Level 4 or above (English) or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- NVQ 2 Health/Social Care
Experience and Knowledge Required
Essential criteria
- Willing to undertake the Care Certificate
- Experience of team working and versatility to take on a variety of tasks
- Knowledge of confidentiality issues and Caldicott principles
- Awareness of Health and Social Care sector
Desirable criteria
- Venepuncture trained
Other
Essential criteria
- Ability to travel to any site where DCHS services are provided
