Senior Financial Accountant – Part Time

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the DSFS Finance team as the Senior Financial Accountant.
This is a part-time role (up to 30 hours a week) and we’re happy to discuss different flexible-working options with prospective candidates.
As the Senior Financial Accountant, you will be a Qualified Accountant reporting to the Head of Financial Accounting, supporting and working closely with our teams across the organisation to deliver accurate financial reporting and provide technical accounting advice to key stakeholders.
This role holds key responsibility for both the group audit and the preparation of the Group’s Annual Accounts (including Trust and DSFS Limited subsidiary), as well as being responsible for ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures.

Contribute to the completion of the monthly monitoring and reporting on the Group’s overall financial performance and position, ensuring that the requirements for internal and external financial reporting are met in a comprehensive, accurate and timely manner.
Coordinate the completion of the statutory Financial Statements for the Trust and its subsidiaries, including responsibility for the creation and monitoring of in-year and year end timetables.
Liaise with internal and external audit, responding to any queries and recommendations and develop and implement appropriate processes and procedures where necessary.
Responsible for management of the Trust and DSFS Balance Sheets including the timely completion and review of all reconciliations.
Provide technical accounting support across the finance team and wider organisation.
Work to continuously improve finance processes and reporting to drive increased efficiency and automation.

Qualifications and Training

- Qualified Accountant with a professional accountancy body (e.g. CIMA/ACCA/CCAB/CIPFA) or qualified by significant work experience.
- Commitment to professional or personal on-going development
Experience

- Minimum of 3 years post qualification experience at a senior level in a complex financial environment
- A sound knowledge of relevant accounting standards
- Track record of financial and non-financial achievements at a senior level
- Experience of leading and coordinating processes involved in financial accounts
- Ability to lead change

- Knowledge of NHS financial accounting systems and practices
- Knowledge of current finance issues within the NHS

- Excellent IT technical skills especially in relation to manipulating large amounts of data
