Job overview
We have an exciting opportunity available from February 2025 to work as a Speciality Doctor in Sycamore ward which is a mixed sex 18 bed ward for adults of working age with separate male and female wings.
Sycamore ward is a new purpose built inpatient psychiatric ward situated in the new 54 bed acute unit called Derwent Unit based on the Chesterfield Royal Hospital site, under the making room for dignity programme of Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
The post holder will be required to have Psychiatric experience. This would normally equate to 2 years and ideally 3 years experience. They will join a team of experienced and supportive colleagues who share good camaraderie and excellent working relationships. Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will play a key role on Sycamore ward providing day-to-day psychiatric care for patients on the ward, alongside the Consultant.
Working in accordance with our people first approach you will lead by example, acting as a role model within a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to ensure the highest level of clinical standards. You will ensure, along with the Consultant and Ward Manager, that the team provides safe, effective therapeutic care within a specialist newly purpose-built ward environment.

qualification/knowledge
Essential criteria
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Evidence of achievement of foundation competencies in line with GMC standards
- Evidence of achievement of STI/CTI competencies in mental health speciality
- Full registration with the GMC
- Approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 3 months of appointment
- Participated in continuous professional development

- Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English
- Relevent mental health clinical knowledge
- Experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk
- Excellent communication skills
