We have an exciting opportunity to offer the post of HCA on a temporary mat cover for 12 months.  

Job Title:                              Healthcare Assistant

Reports to:                          Sector Lead Nurse

Hours:                                     Full-Time 37.5 hours per week

Salary:                                     £24,187 to £25,804 dependant on experience

Base:                                       Royal Primary Care Ashgate

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work alongside all members of the nursing team and strictly in accordance with specific Practice guidelines and protocols, the healthcare assistant will assist the clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patients care.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will assist medical personnel in the care of practice patients to include treatment, preventive care, screening and patient education.

The post holder will act as a focal communication between patients, GP’s, nurses and other members of the primary health care team.

The post holder will be provided with a uniform and badge which must be worn at all times and hold a clean driving license.

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • Education to GCSE standard (or equivalent), to include Maths and English.
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ level 3 in Primary Care.
  • Health Related Training and First Aid.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of dealing with the general public.
  • Understands the need for confidentiality.
  • Understands and is committed to a caring approach to patients, relatives and carers.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in an NHS/healthcare setting.
  • Experience working within a Primary care environment.
  • Experience of using clinical computer systems SYSTMONE.

Skills ans Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • To be able to demonstrate a caring approach to patients and relatives and to ensure dignity and respect is maintained at all times. • • To be able to prioritise your own workload effectively.
  • To be able to communicate effectively with excellent communication skills.
  • To be able to work under your own initiative within the boundaries of this role.
  • To demonstrate awareness of working as part of a team and be able to play an active role within this.
Desirable criteria
  • A basic understanding of General Practice.
  • Nursing experience.
