Ward Receptionist

Job overview

We are currently looking to appoint a Ward Receptionist to work on the Neonatal Unit (NNU) within the Den, Family Care Division. 

The successful candidate must be customer focused, with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Working Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday 8am - 12pm (inclusive of bank holidays). 

Excellent organisational skills and an ability to work under pressure are essential requirements together with great attention to detail for ensuring data is recorded accurately onto the patient administration system to manage the booking of designated follow up clinics after discharge.

To be successful in this role you will possess excellent interpersonal and IT skills, to include GCSE Maths and English grade A–C (or equivalent) and have relevant office/secretarial experience.   You must have effective communication skills and be adaptable to meet the service needs. 

Knowledge of medical terminology, customer care and previous NHS experience are also desirable.

Main duties of the job

The main emphasis of this role is to provide professional clerical and co-ordination to the Neonatal Unit to ensure all staff and visitors receive a friendly, customer focused and efficient service. 

Duties will include providing a friendly and personal checking in of patients and their families/carers, filing of reports and correspondence in patients' case notes, answering and dealing with telephone enquiries, and complete clerical duties with the discharge or transfer of patients from the Consultant care and booking of follow up appointments.
