Job overview
An opportunity has arisen for a suitable candidate experienced in Oral Surgery to take up a middle grade post within this busy and well-established Department of Oro-Facial Maxillary Surgery.
This is a replacement post and thus the role within the department is well established although suggestions for further development would be actively considered. Although the role is offered on a part time basis it may be possible to consider move to full time in due course.
Good exposure to the speciality is available to the successful candidate. The OMFS service is co-located with the Orthodontic polyclinic within a speciality focused Outpatient suite in this busy District General Hospital. There is an established and well-regarded sedation practice operating within the suite.
There are good links with the Tertiary service located at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals (STH) just to the north with one of the Departmental Consultants undertaking major cancer surgery operating sessions on a regular basis within the Tertiary Trust at STH.

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Qualified dental practitioner.
- BDS or equivalent
- Registered with the GDC
Desirable criteria
- FDSRCS (primary or final) or MFDS (or parts thereof).
- Specialist registration with the GDC
Experience
Essential criteria
- Completed VT training programme in general dental practice.
- Minimum three years post registration full time equivalent hospital experience at Tier 2 or equivalent level.
- Competent in all aspects of dento-alveolar surgery
- Competence in the management of common Maxillofacial emergencies
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience of in-patient management
Applicant requirements
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
