CAMHS CBT Therapist for Eating Disorders

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Cognitive Behaviour Therapist to join the North Derbyshire CAMHS service. The post will be based in either the Eating Disorder Service or Core CAMHS CBT Team depending on skills and experience.

You will have a post graduate level qualification in CBT and either be accredited with the BABCP / BACP or have a professional qualification and registration with the relevant governing body. Either a qualification in or experience in delivering CBT interventions for eating disorders would be an advantage.

Main duties of the job

You will be required to work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of evidenced based CBT Therapy to children & young people with a wide range of complex mental health difficulties.  You will work within a well established CBT Team and will be expected to provide supervision and consultation to colleagues and take part in CPD and pathway development activities as necessary. In return you will be well supported by a friendly and professional team.

Person specification

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • Post-graduate qualification in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.
  • Accredited with BABCP
  • Evidence of continuing professional development in cognitive behaviour therapy.
Desirable criteria
  • A professional qualification in nursing, social work, psychology occupational therapy and registered with the appropriate professional body
  • Additional training in EMDR.
  • Formal training in supervision of other therapists.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of specialist CBP assessment and therapeutic intervention with children and young people with psychological and mental health problems and their families
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of child mental health problems across the full range, reflecting all levels of severity.
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience of teaching / training / supervision / providing consultation to other professionals
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working within the area of speciality
  • Experience of both managing a caseload and of providing a duty clinician service
  • Post qualification experience in delivering trauma focused interventions
  • Experience of having completed clinical audits
  • Experience of delivering group interventions to young people and parents.

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Skills in working with complex cases and being able to use CBP in an integrated way.
  • Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and /or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
  • Knowledge of child mental health issues, NICE guidelines and evidence based practice.
  • Ability to manage own caseload and time
  • Knowledge and skills in use of routine outcome monitoring
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to carry out risk assessments within scope of practice
  • Knowledge of child protection issues and other relevant legislation
  • ICT literate
  • Understanding of information governance relevant to the post.
  • Skills in developing good therapeutic relationships with young people and their carers
  • Knowledge and skills needed to deliver and receive good quality clinical supervision.
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge and skills needed for working with eating disorders
  • Knowledge and skills needed for working with young people with ASD and their families
