Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Administrative Assistant within the Surgical Division for the Orthopaedics and Specialist Surgery Care Unit. This post will provide a comprehensive administrative and clerical service to the Care Unit. The post involves receiving and handling information which is confidential and therefore the post holder must maintain strict confidentiality at all times.

This is a 12 month fixed term contract

Main duties of the job

The successful post holder will be expected to have advanced skills commensurate with their responsibilities. They will work substantially independently, providing support of the highest quality to the Care Unit.

The Administration Assistant  will provide range of administrative support services to the Clinical Director, Service Manager and Senior Matron and the other senior members of staff

Chesterfield Royal Hospital was officially opened by the queen in 1985 and since then it has continued to expand and modernise, currently holding approximately 550 beds. We provide acute in-patient and out-patient care for Chesterfield and the surrounding rural area of North Derbyshire, serving a population of approximately 350,000 people.

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent) – Maths and English
  • RSA 2 or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of Medway, Winscribe and ORMIS

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Relevant clerical experience
  • Use of telephone in a busy environment
  • VDU/Keyboard skill
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience within a healthcare environment
  • Customer care experience
