Job overview

We are currently seeking a clinically capable and enthusiastic nurse to  complement our existing Critical Care Outreach/Acute Pain Team at the QHB (Queen’s Burton Hospital) site. The Critical Care Outreach Team works closely with Critical Care, as well as other medical and nursing teams across the organisation. We currently provide a 7 day daytime service and are looking to expand into a 24hour, 7 days a week service. 

 You will be part of a team which provides expert knowledge and clinical support to members of the multi-disciplinary team. You will advise on interventions for acutely ill patients and patients in acute pain, analysing clinical findings on a wide range of complex conditions. Applicants must have the ability to work confidently and collaboratively  demonstrating excellent interpersonal, leadership and role modelling skills. The applicant must have the ability to prioritise whilst under pressure.  

You will be a versatile team member and have teaching experience in both formal and informal settings,. You will have post registration experience in an acute care setting.  You must have the ability to perform patient assessment, highlighting areas of concern as appropriate and offer advice accordingly.  You will also have an assertive, confident approach towards clinical problem solving.

Main duties of the job

Work in collaboration with the multi disciplinary team,  providing clinical support with  the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for acutely ill patients and patients in acute pain. 

Provide clinical support within the ward area to avert admissions to Critical Care, where appropriate.

Facilitates appropriate admission to and discharge from Critical Care working in collaboration with the Critical Care team. Co-ordinates the activities of other professionals involved in the patient journey.

Works as an autonomous practitioner, offering specialist advice and guidance on the management of acute pain problems to the multidisciplinary team.
