Applicants are invited to apply for the post of Senior Clinical Fellow in Trauma & Orthopaedics at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton. Applicants must hold FRCS and have at least 4 years’ experience at a senior level in Trauma and Orthopaedics .

The main site for this post will be at Queen’s Hospital, Burton on Trent although there will be an element of cross cover.
This post will be 1 of 10 middle grade doctors in the Department. The successful applicant would be expected and encouraged to develop special interests, which will fit well with the current and future needs of the Department. He/she will be expected to become involved in all aspects of the Department including teaching, audit and research and participate in the out of hour’s rota.

- Our hospitals admit an average of 195 emergency patients daily.
- Last year we undertook almost 33,700 planned surgical operations in our 57 operating theatres.
- We are one of only 7 Trusts nationally with more than 50 operating theatres.
- We carry out more than 140 elective procedures each working day.

There are opportunities to learn in all sub specialties such as, elective and trauma surgery. hip and knee arthroplasty, upper limb procedures, foot and ankle and hand procedures.
The T&O Department have recently opened a Treatment Centre for arthroplasty surgery in a brand new bespoke dedicated arthroplasty unit which is ring fenced for T&O elective surgery.

- Demonstrates understanding of the principles of research
- Evidence of interest & experience in teaching junior doctors and medical students
- Evidence of active participation in audit

Experience

- 4 years in a relevant specialty or equivalent experience & competencies (SHO level)
