Job overview
The Clinical Directorate is recruiting a Clinician Analyst to join the Clinical Intelligence and Assurance Team (CIAT) on a permanent basis. This role is essential in supporting the Trust’s Clinical and Digital Strategies, enabling the intelligent use of clinical data to improve patient care and service excellence.
We seek an experienced clinician with a keen interest in developing their analytical skills and a passion for transforming data into meaningful insights.
This pivotal role will help shape the future of clinical intelligence within the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust. We are looking for a self-motivated team player eager to use data to enhance clinical practice. If you have the skills and passion to drive change, we encourage you to apply
The base will be agreed on recruitment and there are flexible working arrangements for staff to work remotely.
Main duties of the job
• Providing and contributing to the effective and intelligent use of clinical data, information, and knowledge mobilisation to improve the delivery of care to patients, and to facilitate the Trust in being able to demonstrate this.
• Working closely with the Clinical Intelligence and Assurance, Clinical Improvement and electronic Patient Clinical Record (ePCR) Teams, Health Informatics and Research and Innovation Departments, to facilitate the Trust-wide development of an improvement-focussed culture.
• Contributing to the design, delivery and review of Clinical Indicators and Ambulance Service Indicators, producing dashboards, reports, and visualisations for clinical data.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Clinician with significant experience
- Educated to degree level or equivalent knowledge and experience
- Detailed knowledge of clinical audit and clinical improvement processes and methodology including gathering, analysing, interpreting, and presenting data.
- A detailed understanding of datasets within a healthcare environment
- Comprehensive knowledge of the General Data Protection Regulation, Freedom of Information Act, Caldicott Principles and Clinical Governance
Desirable criteria
- Understanding of governance structures and quality improvement strategies.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Analysis skills including forecasting and modelling techniques.
- Experience of using intermediate to advanced level of Structured Query Language (SQL) scripts, procedures and functions, gained through specialist training and practical experience
Skills and Attributes
Essential criteria
- Proven skills in report writing, critical discussion and producing highly accurate, quality documents for review by a range of audiences
- Able to understand and present complicated information in a simple way and to address situations of opposition and resistance
- Highly numerate with the ability to collect, analyse, interpret, and present multifaceted clinical data and information
Desirable criteria
- Welsh Language Skills are desirable levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in Welsh

Essential criteria
- Displays a passion for excellence for the role clinical informatics can play in improving patient services and the effective development of the organisation.
- Self-motivated, able to set and meet targets to achieve continuous improvement
- Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines
