Job overview

We are delighted to offer the opportunity of joining our Physiotherapy Team at Westmorland General Hospital as a Specialist MSK Physiotherapist.

You will work within the MSK team but will have opportunities to develop specialist skills in other areas. The post will be based at Westmorland General Hospital. You will work with a dedicated and motivated team of Physiotherapists and you will be supported by a team of Advanced Physiotherapists across Morecambe Bay, providing opportunities for you to continue to develop your specialist knowledge and skills.

Main duties of the job

We welcome applications from qualified physiotherapists with musculoskeletal experience and a valid HCPC registration. We are also happy to explore opportunities to allow candidates to develop into this role.

Our primary focus is to deliver quality, patient-centred care which is evidenced based and sustainable for the future in an ever changing NHS landscape. To achieve this, we aim to give you the opportunity to develop your skills in a supportive, dynamic and varied environment and to be involved in service development. We have a strong commitment to staff development and service improvement and provide regular supervision and in-service training.

You will also provide support to team members including Physiotherapists and students.

If you’re looking for an opportunity to continue to develop your skills in MSK and to join an established multi-disciplinary team delivering specialist MSK services in both a secondary and primary care setting, then this could be the role for you.

Working for our organisation

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
