The newly created post is located within the North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust, which provides a variety of healthcare services covering the Lake District and is also close to the beautiful Scottish Borders.

Are you a qualified pharmacist looking to expand your clinical skills? 

This post is a unique opportunity to join our close-knit team who provide clinical pharmacy services to West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven, North Cumbria.

Main duties of the job

You will have excellent communication and organisational skills along with a strong team spirit; working with Medicines Management Technicians and Pharmacists to deliver a high quality clinical pharmacy service to patients.

You must be able to work independently however support will be provided by our experienced pharmacists and medicines management technicians.

We have an excellent track record of career advancement for our hospital pharmacists who have subsequently been successful in advanced clinical roles

There will be an on-call and 7 day working commitment

The changes mean that:

 The Trust is committed to safeguarding adults and children therefore if the post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended) the successful candidate(s) will be subject to a criminal records check with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The cost of the DBS must be met by the successful candidate(s) through salary deduction. DBS charges are as follows if applicable to the post:

 

Standard Check: £18 + Administration cost of £3.85 = £21.85. Deducted at £6.85 from 1st month salary and £5 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

Enhanced Check: £38 + administration cost of £3.90 = £41.90. Deducted at £11.90 from 1st month salary and £10 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

Person specification

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Broad clinical and pharmaceutical knowledge
  • Relevant specialist knowledge
  • Demonstrable understanding of current issues within pharmacy and the NHS
  • Continuing professional development evidenced by portfolio
  • Computer literate
Desirable criteria
  • Spreadsheet and database packages

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience/knowledge of Acute/Community hospital pharmacy work

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • MPharm or equivalent.
  • Registration with General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Completion or near completion of a postgraduate clinical qualification and/or significant relevant clinical experience to demonstrate a similar level of knowledge
Desirable criteria
  • Independent prescribing qualification or commitment to achieving this
