Location: West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven.
Based at the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven; a self-motivated A&E Receptionist is required to join the Emergency Care Team, supporting clinical staff within the function.
Essentially you will have good IT skills and be able to demonstrate a high degree of customer care skills. It is essential that you can apply good judgement skills while under pressure and be able to empathise with our patients. Experience of working in healthcare setting would therefore be desirable but not essential.
You must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be able to work as a team player, but have the ability to work on your own initiative, under pressure whilst remaining calm.
You must be able to assist in covering a 24/7 rota, sometimes at short notice, working 12-hour and/or 6-hour shifts, working on a 36 hours contract.

Main duties of the job
Provide an efficient service for the reception of patients and their relatives and aid the smooth running of the Emergency Department by assisting nursing staff with non-nursing duties. Deal with enquiries from patients, medical staff and the general public.
