Job overview

An exciting opportunity to join the administration teams at UHMBT has become available.

This post will allow post holder to work alongside the busy speciality secretary teams providing day to day office administration duties to the team as well as receiving opportunities to train and develop into one of our speciality secretary posts.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the role include:

  • Working amongst the busy medical secretarial teams providing admin support to the teams including- 
  • Answering incoming calls
  • Scanning clinical information and updating  of patient details onto the EPR system Lorenzo
  • Managing and actioning all incoming post, distributing within the teams and marking attention in priority order
  • Supporting with the transferring of clinic letters from our transcribing services.

                

Working for our organisation

We operate from three main hospitals -Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Our community services for adults are provided in people’s homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, advice and support.

Person specification

Education

Essential criteria
  • Basic education GSCE level or equivelent
  • General computer skills
  • Willingness to undertake training in office 365, medcial terminology and typing
Desirable criteria
  • ECDL or recognised typing qualification or relevant experience

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Use of IT programmes
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge and use of medical terminolog
  • Audio typing experience
  • Previous administration or clerical experience

Skills, ability and knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of clear communication skills, with the ability to use tact and diplomacy at all times
  • Proficiency in English Language
  • Able to work following instruction and procedures
Desirable criteria
  • Awareness of H&S issues
  • Knowledge of data protection issues and the requirement for confidentiality
