Dental Therapist

NHS AfC: Band 6

Job overview

The Trust is seeking to recruit a compassionate and motivated individual to join our existing team of highly skilled clinicians and support staff to provide comprehensive dental care to our patients in Copeland and Allerdale. This post is suitable for candidates who are looking to gain experience working in special care or paediatric dentistry in a community setting. The candidate should have a passion for child and adult dental health and be keen to make a difference to the vulnerable patients seen by our service. Being able to communicate effectively with both patients and staff is essential as you will be responsible for looking after some of the most vulnerable people in society. Previous experience in the use of inhalation sedation would be desirable though certificated training in such would be provided if required.  There is also the opportunity to participate in National Dental Epidemiological surveys as part of the role. We have a number of experienced clinicians available  and keen to provide support for a new team member.

The post is mostly based at the Cleator Moor Dental Clinic, a six surgery clinic, with digital radiography, wheelchair tipper and bariatric bench.  There would also be some clinical time based at satellite dental clinics either at Workington Community Hospital or West Cumberland Hospital.

Main duties of the job

This role would suit dental therapists who wish to contribute to the maintenance and improvement of the oral health of the local population through direct clinical contact and innovative working with our local health and social care partners and patients.

Working for our organisation

At NCIC, we have an ambition to deliver outstanding healthcare services to the population of North Cumbria.  The Trust is committed to creating a centre of excellence in providing rural and remote healthcare and provides a wide range of community and acute services throughout our county.

Our 5 key principles demonstrate our belief in the delivery of ‘safe, high quality care every time’:

·         Being a clinically led organisation

·         Quality and safety at the heart of our Trust

·         A positive patient experience every time

·         A great place to work

·         Managing our money well

As an organisation we are serious about supporting a diverse workforce that reflects our local community and are very much focused on being an inclusive and compassionate place to work.

Across the North East and North Cumbria we are working together to deliver our ambition to be the greenest region in England by 2030. All staff are expected to support sustainability.
