Are you an experienced manager looking for a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on healthcare services? We are looking for an exceptional Deputy Service Manager to join our fantastic NHS Trust located in the stunning surroundings of the Lake District. You will play a vital role in delivering exceptional performance, quality, and safety of services within your Clinical Collaborative. This role offers an incredible opportunity to an experienced manager or someone ready to step into operational management.

The Deputy Service Manager for Women and Children is a fantastic opportunity to manage a range of acute and countywide services.

You will work closely with an excellent team consisting of a General Manager,  Deputy General Manager and  2 other Deputy Services alongside a lead  Matron to operationally manage these services.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will:

  • Hold delegated responsibility for key areas of service delivery, for example, operational and performance management in relation to constitutional standard waiting times and achieving financial balance.
  • Actively support the achievement of objectives within both corporate and Collaborative agenda.
  • Support delivery of the maintenance and successful achievement of local and national performance management targets.
  • Ensure that ward/departments maintain the highest standards and performance requirements under corporate and clinical governance procedures.
  • Support improvement / developments of service.
  • Manage pay and non-pay resources associated with defined speciality/specialities across the trust.
  • Prepare and present business plans and recommend options for improvement. 
  • Implement effective and appropriate performance management systems and processes within specified areas, ensuring there are robust evaluation processes in place following change.
  • Review and monitor performance of specified areas within the Service to ensure Trust requirements are met.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding adults and children therefore if the post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended) the successful candidate(s) will be subject to a criminal records check with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The cost of the DBS must be met by the successful candidate(s) through salary deduction. DBS charges are as follows if applicable to the post:

Standard Check: £18 + Administration cost of £3.85 = £21.85. Deducted at £6.85 from 1st month salary and £5 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

Enhanced Check: £38 + administration cost of £3.90 = £41.90. Deducted at £11.90 from 1st month salary and £10 deducted from salary over following 3 months.
