Head of Compliance and Risk, 37.5 hours per week

The Head of Compliance  & Risk is a senior manager within the Trust’s Quality Governance Team.  The Quality Governance Team is led and managed by the Deputy Chief Nurse for Safety and Governance and sits within the portfolio of the Executive Chief Nurse but works closely with the Executive Medical Director, and other colleagues across the organisation. 

 The post holder will lead the organisations responses to CQC and other regulators and external assessors as well as managing the Trusts risk management processes.

The post holder will have a key role in supporting the Collaboratives to ensure governance is embedded from ward/team to Board and that data and reporting is robust at every level.

The post holder will be an expert in their field and will advise the organisation on changes to regulatory activity as well as keeping the Trust's CQC registration updated.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will:

be the lead contact for CQC, oversee relationship meetings and action plans and co-ordinate responses to enquiries

lead the review of evidence prior to submission for national enquiry or data submission requirements

interpret complex regulatory guidance for the organisations use at all levels

leads on the development, implementation and evaluation of any appropriate strategies and policies relating to the regulatory/compliance issues.

leads on development and oversight of risk management practices.

The Head of Compliance and Risk is a key member of the senior team supporting governance across the Trust.  The postholder will provide expert advice as required on their areas of responsibility.

the post holder will network with those in similar roles across the network to share ideas and ensure NCIC is at the forefront of new processes and embracing the national agenda.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding adults and children therefore if the post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended) the successful candidate(s) will be subject to a criminal records check with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). Standard Check: £18 + Administration cost of £3.85 = £21.85. Deducted at £6.85 from 1st month salary and £5 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

Enhanced Check: £38 + administration cost of £3.90 = £41.90. Deducted at £11.90 from 1st month salary and £10 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • First level degree in health related subject or evidence of equivalent experience
  • Master’s level qualification in health related subject or equivalent demonstrable experience, skill and competence at a senior level
  • Leadership/ Management Qualification or post registration leadership development courses
  • Evidence of relevant specialist study and continued personal and professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Post graduate study in aspects of clinical governance
