An opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Support Worker to join the Emergency Department Team at Furness General Hospital.
We are looking for enthusiastic, caring and motivated individual ideally with acute care experience to join our team.
The post holder will work within the nursing team to help provide nursing care and assistance to patients within the department.
Main duties of the job
Work in support of and under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), providing nursing care and assistance to patients.
Provide basic patient care and document that care in the patient records.
Work effectively with the multidisciplinary team in order to achieve desired outcomes that promote the well-being of our patients
Assist in feeding of patients who are unable to do so themselves and complete food charts where necessary.
Working for our organisation
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Education and qualifications
Essential criteria
- Willingness to undertake NVQ level 2 in care related area
- Basic literacy & numeracy skills
Experience
Essential criteria
- Manual handling of patients, using lifting aids
- Previous experience in a care environment
Desirable criteria
- Use of Lorenzo computer system
Skills, ability and knowledge
Essential criteria
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
- Ability to work as part of a team
- IT skills basic level
