Job overview

We are looking for skilled and experienced Senior Occupational Therapists to join our friendly, busy Trauma and Orthopaedics team at Treliske Hospital. 

You will have the opportunity to manage a varied Trauma and Orthopaedic caseload, including providing cover to our Trauma Assessment Unit.

We are looking for team members who can provide decisive and effective Occupational Therapy input.

Main duties of the job

You will need to have excellent organisational skills, combined with a wide knowledge base and experience of working in Trauma and Orthopaedic services. You will be required to hold and manage a varied clinical caseload, formulating and delivering individual Occupational Therapy treatment for Trauma and Orthopaedic patients.

We will offer a supportive working environment in which to develop your clinical and interpersonal skills. CPD is actively supported through an in-service training program within the therapy team. There is also the opportunity to be involved in service development.

The Trauma Therapy team run a service over 7 days, of which participation is a requirement of the post.

Essential criteria
  • Degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent
  • HCPC registered
Desirable criteria
  • Membership of the College of Occupational Therapy.
  • Membership of appropriate clinical interest groups.
  • Evidence of further formal study

Essential criteria
  • Comprehensive experience of working in an acute hospital setting - ideally to include Trauma and Orthopaedics and musculoskeletal experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years post qualification experience
  • Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team, a good understanding of their roles and respect for the other professionals within the team.
  • Experience of working with Occupational Therapy students either as a clinical educator or supporting a clinical educator.
  • Experience in the use of; ADL equipment, Mobility Independence aids, Basic orthotics Moving and handling equipment.
Desirable criteria
  • Ability to demonstrate a broad depth of experience from working in a variety of fields
  • Experience of assessing for, and fitting prefabricated supports and/or moulding bespoke splints and braces
  • Evidence of having undertaken Clinical Educator training
