You will be joining a forward thinking Finance and Procurement Department that puts the needs of our patients, Trust colleagues and each other at the heart of everything we do. The department places great focus on staff wellbeing and currently delivers its service through a blended model of flexible working on-site at the hospital and remotely from home and/or other sites.

 Cornwall NHS Procurement Service provides a fully inclusive procurement service to both Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust and Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, and a transactional service to the Integrated Care Board.

The fully inclusive service includes end to end sourcing, tendering, contracting, purchasing, order processing, catalogue management and inventory management.

Main duties of the job

The department is seeking an ambitious individual who wants to use their passion and skills to make a difference to patient care.   The Post Holder will be responsible for managing and procuring Healthcare related services in the Non-Clinical Procurement team. We welcome candidates with previous knowledge of procuring Health and Social Care services and with knowledge and understanding of the Provider Selection Regime 2023.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Qualified member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply or studying towards. If not, willing to commit to working towards qualification within an agreed timescale
Desirable criteria
  • Project Management qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Practical experience in a procurement/contracting environment or relevant industry
  • Project Management
  • Undertaking tendering and contracting activity
  • Negotiating commercial contracts
  • Analysis of data using Excel spreadsheets and Access databases
  • Delivery of cash releasing savings
Desirable criteria
  • Legal/contract law knowledge
  • Staff management
  • Experience in undertaking tendering within the Public Procurement Regulations including FTS adverts, award criteria

Practical and Intellectual Skills (Including any special knowledge)

Essential criteria
  • Use of computerised ordering and electronic tendering systems
  • Highly skilled in use of spreadsheets and databases
  • Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team
