Maternity Triage Lead Midwife

The post holder is responsible for the effective management of telephone and face to face Maternity Triage over the 24-hour period and will support the management of unscheduled care within the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust Maternity Services. As a specialist senior midwife, they will demonstrate clinical expertise and leadership at all times to the midwifery and medical team. They will supervise the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care using BSOTS ensuring that midwifery and corporate standards are maintained and measured.

Main duties of the job

As an experienced clinical practitioner, the post holder will be expected to create an environment of continuous quality improvement and put systems in place to minimise risk in response to clinical incidents, complaints, HSIB, PALS and claims. 

We are currently developing our Maternity Triage Service to ensure it prioritises the safety of the families in our care according to their clinical need. We have a well-established telephone triage system ‘Netcall’ and are planning to implement the BSOTS triage system.

The post holder will support the matron to effectively manage on a shift basis with the non-pay resources budget providing expert advice to support any business changes or developments.
