Royal Cornwall Hospital Dermatology Unit are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and motivated person to join us as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in Dermatology Skin Cancer.  

Dermatology is a proactive department always improving to ensure that the care we provide is evidence based, safe and best practice. 

The successful candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as proven experience in dermatology and skin cancer,  using their specialist knowledge and skills to support the delivery of brilliant care.

Whilst we are seeking a CNS with proven experience and competence in skin cancer,  for the right candidate, with transferable experience and skills, we will appoint to a developmental role (Appointed at Band 6 until competency achieved)

Main duties of the job

Maintaining the highest clinical standards in the management of Dermatology patients and assigned nurse-led services.

Ensuring active participation in continuing education and training as required for revalidation nursing registration.

Participating in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and Audit.

Attending meetings as appropriate.

Fulfilling duties as per clinical requirement.

  • NMC registration
  • Non-medical prescribing qualification or commitment to undertake (as appropriate for sub-specialty)
  • Completion or commitment to undertake relevant extended role scope competencies
Desirable criteria
  • University qualification in specialty
  • Teaching/assessment/mentoring qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Relevant nursing experience within specialty
  • Audit or research experience
  • Teaching and education experience
