Dermatology Admin & Clerical Assistant

To provide efficient and high-quality clerical, administrative and secretarial support to the Dermatology unit. 

Main duties of the job

Take and process telephone calls in an appropriate manner.  Telephone calls will involve contact with patients, carers and health professionals and may involve the provision of non-clinical advice.

Uploading loose filing to eNotes.

Provide cover for other members of staff as directed by the CAL.

Sort, distribute and prioritise internal/external post, including communication by e-mail.

Requesting case notes as necessary, for the medical secretary team and the inpatient booking team.

Phone and confirm patients with an admission date.

Ensure case notes are maintained in accordance with the Trust’s Case Note Management Policy and that all correspondence, reports and results are filed correctly and in a timely manner.

Ensure RADAR is updated in a timely manner.

Essential criteria
  • GCSE in English and Maths grade 9 to 4 (A* to C) or equivalent

Experience & Skills

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience of working in an office / administration role
  • Keyboard skills and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Able to communicate effectively with staff of different disciplines.
Desirable criteria
  • Previous NHS experience
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
