We are looking for an outstanding Associate Director to lead the Acute Nursing team at the Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust, overseeing the delivery of high-quality, safe, and effective care across three hospital sites. As a senior leader, this individual will provide expert nursing guidance to the Director of Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals and play a key role in shaping policies and strategies that align with national and best practice standards.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Provide visible, professional, and purposeful leadership to the Acute Nursing workforce, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

Provide nursing professional advice to the Director of Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals, supporting the development and implementation of policies and strategies that reflect national and best practice standards.

Work closely with Heads of Nursing to implement and monitor measures to ensure high-quality, safe, and effective care delivery, including robust 'ward to board' governance processes.

Develop and implement policies and strategies that ensure national and best practice standards are interpreted and included within these.

Represent the Trust at internal and external forums and committees, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with stakeholders.

Lead on specific Trust-wide initiatives and support the implementation of key projects and programmes of work, including formulation of detailed strategic plans relating to nursing impacting across the organisation.

Work in partnership with managers and clinicians to lead the acute nursing agenda, supporting the Director of Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals on all matters relating to patient experience and improved outcomes.

Portfolio Responsibilities Include:

Corporate NMAHP portfolio holder for Clinical Quality, responsible for leading and managing the development and delivery of the Quality Improvement Programme for Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals.

Driving and supporting the Ward to Board agenda, including ASPIRE Ward Accreditation programme.

A strong understanding of national and local standards and best practice requirements in nursing.

Proven leadership experience in a similar role, with a track record of delivering high-quality care services.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels.

Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.

Knowledge of evidence-based practice and relevant statutory and regulatory standards.

  • Relevant Master's Degree
  • Management qualification or equivalent relevant experience
  • QI methodology qualification or equivalent clinical quality improvement methodology
  • Registered practitioner

Experience

  • Evidence of continuing personal and professional development
  • Extensive experience in a senior management role within an NHS setting including regulated health and social care activities
  • Management experience within an operational environment, including e.g. service provision, finance, management and service improvements
  • Management of change/quality improvement within a large complex organisation
  • Experience of multi- disciplinary and multi-agency working
  • Experience of developing strategy documents and board level reports
  • Extensive experience in developing & delivering quality standards and other key performance measures e.g. CQUINs with commissioners
  • Experience in leading and managing complex teams
  • Evidence of Leadership development
  • Extensive experience in QI methodology and implementing rapid but sustainable change in clinical practice
