Interim Access and Performance Manager

Band 8b

Job overview

We’re looking for a candidate to join our highly-regarded and dynamic Commissioning, Performance and Intelligence team as Access and Performance Manager on an interim basis, pending substantive appointments to the team which will take place in the early part of 2025.

This is an exciting developmental opportunity which because of its interim nature is more likely to suit somebody with significant existing relevant experience in a comparable role.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will combine excellent interpersonal, management and analytical skills to work in close partnership with our clinical Care Groups. The role combines 2 key functions:

      -        Access management: ensuring that all aspects of the Trust’s access            management systems are managed effectively and in accordance with              best practice

-        Performance management: contributing to the development of the Trust’s performance management agenda, further developing performance reporting, and implementation of the Performance Management Strategy through working with the Trust’s Care Groups and specialties

The balance between the 2 is flexible depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant, but we are looking essentially for someone to lead on day to day access and performance issues in the Trust whilst also being able to make a strategic contribution in these areas.

Working for our organisation

The Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT) is the main provider of acute and specialist care services in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We serve a population of around 500,000 people - a figure that can increase significantly with visitors during the busiest times of the year. We employ approximately 6,700 staff and have a budget of approximately £580 million.

We are a teaching hospital in partnership with the University of Exeter Medical School, University of Plymouth School of Nursing and Midwifery, and Peninsula Dental School.

The Knowledge Spa on the Royal Cornwall Hospital site is the base for medical and nursing as well as ongoing education for health professions in clinical and non-clinical roles.

Keeping at the forefront of medical advances, we are continually developing our clinical services as well as our facilities and are committed to maximising the range of specialist care that can be offered locally. Allied to this is a growing reputation for research and innovation.
