The postholder will provide joint work and formulation with Consultant Physicians, Clinical Nurse Specialists and on an ad hoc basis for inpatient requests. The role will also provide assessments as part of the Spinal Cord Stimulator (SCS) pathway and offer team reflective practice. There is also potential for further team expansion and development through supervision models and trainee placements.
The post holder will be in the exciting position of working closely with Pain clinicians and managers to shape psychological provision for patients, their families, and staff.

Main duties of the job
JOB PURPOSE
• To be responsible for the provision of a high-quality specialist clinical health psychology service to the Pain Clinic within Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust.
• To contribute to new developments within Pain Services in conjunction with key stakeholders.
• To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the service line.
• To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and clinically relevant research.
• To supervise and support the psychological assessment and therapy provided by less experienced psychologists, doctoral trainee psychologists, assistant practitioners, and other health professionals.

Training & Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology
- Registered HCPC Practitioner Psychologist
- Post Doctoral Training in Psychological Approaches to Physical Health
Desirable criteria
- Other related qualifications to Masters or Doctorate Level
- Clinical Supervision Qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Qualified Clinical/Counselling Psychologist
- Experience in working in clinical health psychology service
- Experience in working in acute medical settings both in and outpatient
- Experience in teaching and training
- Experience in clinical supervision of others
Desirable criteria
- Experience in working in pain management services
- Experience in working in integrated MDT
- Experience in working in highly pressured clinical environments
Knowledge and Skills
Essential criteria
- Ability to analyse complex information in which expert opnion may differ to allow the formulation of the treatment plan
- Skills in providing consultation to professional and non-professional groups
- Highly developed skills in complex methods of psychological assessment and formulation
- Evidence of CPD
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge and skills in implemntation of two or more psychological therapies
- Formal training in clinical supervision
Personal
Essential criteria
- Evidence of passion for working in clinical health psychology environments
- Ability to demonstrate self care and manage challenging environments
Desirable criteria
- Demonstrates desire to add value to pain service development
