Audiologist

Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic Audiologist to join our friendly team. 

In this role, the successful candidate will perform all aspects of Band 5 work with the Adult and Paediatric audiology service. 

You will also provide audiology support to ENT using your own initiative regarding tests required. This will include assessment, treatment and managing directly referred patients, providing rehabilitation and care for hearing aid users and those with associated problems i.e. tinnitus.

We are a friendly and professional department who invest in training our staff. We offer training opportunities including apprenticeships and the Scientific Training Programme (STP) in audiology. We offer exposure for all grades of audiologist to explore their areas of interest, such as bone anchored hearing aids, balance, ABR testing. 

Main duties of the job

Routine aspects of all work within the department including clinics at peripheral sites and domiciliary visiting.

Perform procedures without supervision:

Daily calibration of equipment

Pure Tone Audiometry (PTA) with masking when appropriate on adults and school aged children

Tympanometry

Otoacoustic Emissions (TEOAE’s)

Fitting and verification of hearing aids

Troubleshooting issues from adult patients with hearing aids

Aural rehabilitation including basic tinnitus management

Management of children with glue ear and post grommet insertion follow up

Ability to accurately and appropriately explain results to patients and follow the local clinical pathways

Ensure a Person Centred, Family Friendly ethos is followed with all patient interactions

  • BSc in Audiology or equivalent experience / qualification
  • Registered with RCCP / HCPC or AHCS
Desirable criteria
  • BAA/BSA membership
