The Pharmacy Clinical Trials Team at the Royal Cornwall Hospital are excited to be recruiting a specialised dispenser as a key role in our departmental strategy to focus on patient care and experience and expand our clinical trials work. This is an exciting development opportunity for the right person who will have a Level 2 qualification in Pharmacy Services or equivalent.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Trials
To perform dispensing duties for clinical trial drugs in accordance with specific protocol procedures
To select trial packs and complete patient label directions following protocol.
To complete patients accountability and running log for all trial patients
To perform housekeeping duties including temperature monitoring, expiry date checks, and the archiving of trial data (under supervision)
To perform all activities in accordance with training and departmental standard operating procedures
Dispensary and Controlled drugs
To dispense for in-patients, out-patients and patient discharge
To ensure accuracy of work during all stages of the dispensing process.
To ensure records and controls are correctly maintained using the pharmacy computer system and paper records and by following the Pharmacy Archive procedure
To relabel patients own drugs for reuse after assessment of suitability in the dispensary.
To perform reception duties including dealing with patient and NHS staff enquiries either face to face or by telephone.
To perform all activities in accordance with training and departmental standard operating procedure
To perform controlled drug audits
Supermarket
To assist in the Top Up and stock supplies to wards, clinical departments and community clinics when needed.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NVQ 2 or equivalent in pharmacy services
- Good general education
- GCSE Grade 4 (C) or above in Maths and English
Desirable criteria
- GCP accreditation

- Experience in a pharmacy environment

- Supervisory experience
Practical and intellectual skill

- Good all round communication skills both verbal and written
- Able to demonstrate good levels of accuracy in all areas of work
