Job overview

We are excited to be looking for a new colleague to join our expanding team of substantive consultants based at Wrexham Maelor Hospital. The post is a new addition to the current team of consultants currently working in the East area of the Health Board. The post has arisen from plans to reconfigure and strengthen our existing services.  In particular, we are seeking to strengthen our already well-developed services in Stroke medicine.

Wrexham is superbly located in North East Wales, on the border with Cheshire and Shropshire. Excellent lines of communication allow easy access to Chester, Liverpool and Manchester, but also provide a gateway to the North Wales coastline and Snowdonia National Park.

Main duties of the job

Deliver a consultant-led Stroke service at Wrexham Maelor Hospital for the diagnosis and management of both outpatients and inpatients.

Take consultant responsibility for stroke inpatient care as part of the team, with support from a designated team of junior doctors based on the Stroke unit. Numbers of outlying patients can vary, but due to the nature of the role are minimal.
