We have a part time Therapy Assistant post  to work as part of the integrated  therapy team on Zetland Ward in Redcar Primary Care Hospital. You would work with Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Dieticians and nurses  to provide rehabilitation to patients on the ward to increase their independence and support a safe discharge.

Based on site at Redcar Primary Care Hospital you would also have access to Free parking.

Main duties of the job

This post provides an excellent opportunity for someone with relevant experience of working in a healthcare setting.  To be successful in this role you will require sound core skills to support the stroke therapy services within an inpatient and community setting.

You will work as part of the therapy team with training,  supervision and ongoing support from the therapists. You will need to be able to work on your own and as part of a team and be involved with patients with a range of medical, social and functional problems. You will need to good time management, excellent communication skills, organisational skills, enthusiasm, commitment and demonstrate a good flexible approach to your work.

Continuing professional development is actively encouraged and regular support and supervision will be provided by therapist within the team. Participation in service developments and clinical governance is also expected, for which there is good support throughout the integrated therapy service to help you develop.

Although the your main role would be to work within stroke, you would also be expected to provide cover during the week for the older persons medicine patients too where required.

Flexibility to work across 7 days is essential.

Qualifications & Training

Essential criteria
  • 3 A-levels OR Health and Science T-level OR equivalent level 3 qualification(s) and Functional Skills (level 2) OR As a level 3 apprenticeship, such as the Senior Healthcare Support Worker apprenticeship (or other level 3 qualification pathway) AND/OR Short courses and completion of competency workbook equivalent to Level 3 in a range of patient and clinical care duties AND/OR Equivalent knowledge and experience in a range of clinical care duties equivalent to Level 3; - Theoretical knowledge - Experience of a range of care and related procedures - clinical observations knowledge of relevant legislation
Desirable criteria
  • Equipment training

  • Basic IT skills to use electronic patient records and other Trust systems.
