Job overview

To commence August 2025

Applications are invited from registered medical practitioners for a Teaching post, jointly supervised by the Clinical Decision Unit at the Friarage Hospital and the undergraduate department within South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Prior experience of working and teaching within the NHS is essential for this post.

Close collaboration and flexible working between the two directorates is integral to the appointment, to balance clinical and teaching commitments. Successful candidates must be fully registered medical practitioners who have successfully completed Foundation Programme or have equivalent training. Salary can be matched when provided with evidence of current pay slip one month prior to commencement of the post

Main duties of the job

This post supports the establishment of an undergraduate training hub for students from regional medical schools. The post holder will need to engage with a wide range of specialities as we consolidate and build a teaching programme for students from Hull York Medical School (HYMS) and Newcastle University as well as support students from other medical schools on clinical placements. The post provides a unique opportunity to work with senior educators to establish a new curriculum at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Whilst the main teaching commitments will be at the Friarage Hospital, the post also provides wide ranging opportunities to be actively involved in the delivery of education at the James Cook University Hospital (JCUH) site. In addition, there will be scope for gaining clinical experience in acute medicine in the Clinical Decisions Unit at the Friarage Hospital, however, this will vary according in line with the needs of the education programme.
