This post offers an exciting to gain training and experience in neurology and medical education. The aim of this post is to further develop and improve teaching of undergraduate medical students within South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Prior experience of working and teaching within the NHS is essential for this post.
Applications are invited from registered medical practitioners for a Teaching post, the post holders will be jointly supervised by the clinical collaborative and the undergraduate department. Close collaboration and flexible working between the departments is integral to the appointment, to balance clinical and teaching commitments. The post is one day a week clinical and 4 days a week teaching/simulation. The post holders will be expected to contribute to work in the neurology departments and provide high quality care for patients. The post-holders will be given the opportunity to undertake the Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education. The post is for 12 months, and salary scale is the Locally Employed Doctors contract (2016). Those wishing to apply who are working at a higher grade than CT1/2 are welcome. Salary can be matched when provided with evidence of current pay slip one month prior to commencement of the post.
Main duties of the job
This post will allow the post-holders to participate in clinical activities within the neurology departments one day a week. Fellows will also have a definite commitment to delivering and developing undergraduate teaching at all levels at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The balance of teaching and clinical activity will be determined by the needs of the individual and the changing requirements over the academic year, but it is planned that at least one day will be spent in the clinical area each week with additional time for clinical simulation. The post holders will also be expected to contribute to mentoring and supervising medical students on a regular basis as well as contributing to end of stage examinations and in-course assessments.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- GMC registration with licence to practice
- Successful completion of Foundation Programme or equivalent training
- Registered Medical Degree (MB BS or equivalent)
Desirable criteria
- BSc or other intercalated degree
- MRCP Part 1 and 2
Clinical Skills
Essential criteria
- Experience of working in the NHS (min. 12 months at start of post)
- Experience of managing patients with neurological conditions
Desirable criteria
- ALS
Teaching Experience
Essential criteria
- Evidence of UK teaching experience
- Knowledge of a UK undergraduate curriculum
Desirable criteria
- Experience in simulation-based teaching
- Teaching qualifications
- Experience of different groups/teaching methods
