An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented specialist doctor to join the Neurology Department at The James Cook University Hospital.
Main duties of the job
To provide, in conjunction with Consultant and multi-disciplinary team colleagues, a comprehensive Neurology service.

Qualifications & Training
Essential criteria
- Full GMC registration
- MRCP or equivalent
- Relevant CCT or equivalent (‘equivalence’ must be confirmed by PMETB/GMC by date of AAC)
- Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of the AAC
Desirable criteria
- Training in appraisal techniques
Clinical experience and effectiveness
Essential criteria
- Training and Experience in Acute Neurology
- Training and Experience in the management of Acute Stroke and TIA
- Evidence of clinical audit
- Understanding of clinical governance and a readiness to accept and acknowledge the responsibilities it implies
Desirable criteria
- Wide range of experience in Neurology
Management & Administrative Experience
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of management and administration experience
- Management training
- Success in obtaining funding for research
Teaching and training experiences
Essential criteria
- Experience of supervising junior medical staff
Desirable criteria
- Other teaching skills/experience
Personal attributes
Essential criteria
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, relatives, GP’s, nurses and other agencies
- Enthusiasm and ability to work under pressure
- Good organisational and management skills
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
