South Tees NHS Hospitals Foundation Trust is currently seeking 1 Full time, Fixed term 12 month contract Clinical Coder post to be based at the James Cook University Hospital Site in Middlesbrough.
The Trust’s Clinical Coding Department is responsible for the translation of medical terminology and clinical data, as written by the Clinicians, to describe the patient’s diagnoses, treatment or reason for seeking medical attention into a coded format which is nationally and internationally recognised.
Main duties of the job
Our Clinical Coding Department is evolving in order to meet the increasing demands of the NHS and to support the Trust’s business activity. We are looking to recruit a dedicated and motivated individual. The post is challenging and will require you to undertake extensive training which will be provided. An understanding of anatomy and physiology and a familiarity with clinical language are desired
You will have knowledge of computers, coding procedures & conventions; knowledge of medical terminology, anatomical and physiological terms; acquired through work-based training.
This role will require you to work to strict deadlines, whilst still paying attention to detail and always maintaining a high level of accuracy. Good communication skills are required, as is the ability to work within a team.
Although the post will be based primarily at one of the Trust’s two hospitals you will be required, as and when, to work at the Trust’s other site.

After you complete this one and a half day of training you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities, we offer further in-house courses and bitesize programmes and leadership apprenticeships at level 3,5 and 7.
