Therapy Assistant Practitioner

Band 4

Job overview

An excellent opportunity for anyone interested and committed to rehabilitation in the community.

South Tees Hospitals NHS Trust Community Collaborative and Primary Care Networks are working together to improve community rehabilitation services ensuring that the local population across Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland receive therapy close to home. As a result, there has been changes to service provision recently meaning that services can be delivered by the right therapist in the right place at the right time.

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest teaching hospital trusts in the country, close to the North Yorkshire Moors and within easy reach of Newcastle and Leeds. It comprises two acute hospitals, James Cook University Hospital and Friarage Hospital Northallerton and several community hospitals and community services. Therapy services at South Tees NHS trust are also part of the wider Integrated Therapy service in Middlesbrough, Redcar & Cleveland. This is a unique partnership between Health and Social care in South Tees with a commitment to working together, improving the quality of our services and getting rid of existing barriers between health and social services.

Main duties of the job

We are recruiting to a permanent band 4 Therapy Assistant Practitioner post within Redcar and Cleveland PCN community therapy team which consists of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Therapy Assistant Practitioners and Therapy Assistants. The service is provided over 5 days Monday to Friday and the post holder will work between the hours of 8.30am-16.30pm.

As services are delivered across the Redcar and Cleveland Locality there is an expectation that you will have an ability to work flexibly and travel independently within the community.  Working in the community, you will provide rehabilitation in patients’ own homes and group settings, working closely with statutory and voluntary services to promote and maintain independence.

Please note that this vacancy will close when we receive sufficient completed applications.

Working for our organisation

Support and in-service training will be provided to develop your skills, knowledge and understanding of the role. There are supervision structures and competencies in place to ensure that you continue to deliver the best possible service to the patients in our care.

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offers leadership and improvement training to all new staff to the Trust; this training programme has been designed to support our leaders in developing their understanding of leadership and management skills.  You will be expected to attend the New and Aspiring leaders programme, and the Foundation Quality Improvement Programme that the Trust delivers. After you complete this one and a half day of training you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities.
