We are looking for an amazing Vascular Scientist/Sonographer with vascular expertise, to join the established Vascular team here at Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust! If you are also trained in other aspects of ultrasound, we will look to accommodate these across the full department.
You will understand the need for a caring and compassionate approach along with attention to detail, working across Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and satellite locations. The successful applicant will assist to maintain our efficient US service across the Warrington and Halton sites to include Warrington Hospital, Nightingale Building (formerly Halton General Hospital), Captain Sir Tom Moore Building and our community site at the Halton Health Hub in Runcorn Shopping City.
Our Vascular unit has 2 rooms in Warrington Hospital Outpatients and 1 room in Halton Hospital Radiology. We carry out a wide range of vascular investigations including, but not exclusively, carotid, aorta, upper and lower limb arterial and venous assessments, graft surveillance, imaging of endovascular aneurysm repair and DVT assessments.
We are an extremely positive, friendly and forward thinking department, with the wider ultrasound team performing other aspects of clinical Ultrasound such as Obstetrics, General, Baby Hips and MSK.
Main duties of the job
You will join a supportive, friendly and exceptional team of sonographers.
You must be able to demonstrate initiative and prioritise a complex workload whilst working both as an autonomous practitioner and as part of a multidisciplinary team. The right candidate will have strong organisational skills, ability to use own initiative and work under pressure, as well as excellent communication skills to deal appropriately with complex, sensitive, or contentious issues with patients and colleagues of all grades.

To be considered for appointment at Band 7, Applicants should be accredited with the Society of Vascular Technology and/or have a PG Dip/Cert in Ultrasound with HCPC registration and relevant experience working within the NHS setting and ultrasound departments. We are happy to consider applicants who are currently working towards SVT accreditation or have recently finished/nearly finished the STP training programme, however appointment may initially be at a lower banding.

Experience
Essential criteria
- Evidence of post qualification experience in a wide range of clinical ultrasound examinations
- Experience in issuing own diagnostic reports
- Experience working in the NHS
Desirable criteria
- Involvement in the training of staff in ultrasound to PgD level and the education of student radiographers
- Involvement in the wider professional arena
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Postgraduate level training in Vascular Ultrasound or Medical Ultrasound i.e. DMU or PgD in Medical Ultrasound or other equivalent ultrasound qualification e.g Accredited Clinical Vascular Scientist qualification
- HCPC/NMC registration or equivalent.
Desirable criteria
- Further professional qualifications.

- Ability to organise and prioritise workload to meet the service need
- Counselling and empathy skills for conveying bad news to patients and relatives. • Sensitivity and tact
- Ability to work flexibly and autonomously
