Job overview
We have an exciting opportunity for experienced neonatal nurses to join our team band 7 team as a clinical team leader with an interest in risk.
Therefore we are looking to recruit a highly skilled and motivated Neonatal nurses, who has recent hospital experience in nursing infants who have special care, high dependency and intensive care needs. If you are confident in the assessment, treatment and management of babies, providing family integrated care and can support a nursing team through effective leadership and management skills then we want to hear from you!
Main duties of the job
Our Neonatal service at WHH is ran by a dynamic, talented team of professionals nurses who deliver high quality, compassionate care to the local community and beyond.
You will join an established senior nursing team who will support you to develop professionally. You will work collaboratively with them to manage the neonatal service on a day to day basis. This role requires you to utilise your expertise and critical thinking skills to ensure performance and standards are monitored and continuously maintained.
Operational management duties include maintaining a safe, clean environment, monitoring and improving unit performance, supporting staff wellbeing through training and providing pastoral care. The post holder is professionally accountable for the standards of clinical care delivered within their unit, they will undertake and supervise clinical practice, audit, research and participate in teaching.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
We have two positions available 34.5 hours and 30 hours per week.
Role Summary
- To function as a senior practitioner on the Neonatal unit using expert knowledge and skills to achieve the optimum outcome for the neonate and family in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team.
- To be responsible for co-ordinating, supervising and supporting neonatal staff in the clinical areas in the delivery of individualised care to the neonate in partnership with the family.
- To be responsible for supervising and mentoring members of the team.
- To be responsible for co-ordinating and managing the shift.
- To be responsible for providing professional leadership within the team.
- To be designated to take charge of the ward/department regularly , in the absence of the Neonatal unit manager.
- To be responsible for supervising and managing a named group of staff within the establishment.
- To be responsible for an area of quality improvement.
- Promote a culture where clinical governance and patient safety are integrated into the care and wellbeing of all patients, staff and families, promoting, openness and accountability.
- Support staff and guide them in management of incidents and complaints, promoting reflection on practice and disseminating learning.
- Ensure the appropriate level of investigation is undertaken in response to incidents, reflecting the severity of incidents.

- Relevant neonatal experience at Band 6 level
- Competent to deliver care in all areas.
- Evidence of Leadership experience within a Neonatal unit

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- RGN, RSCN or RN (Adult or Child) Clinical Professional Qualification
- Degree level or equivalent
- Post-registration qualification in specialist area (ENB 405 or equivalent)
- Teaching and assessing or mentorship qualification.
- NLS certificate

- Evidence of ongoing academic studies
