Job overview

Applications are invited for the post of Specialty Doctor in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine at Macclesfield District General Hospital. You will become part of a highly experienced and dedicated team of  Consultants, Associate Specialists,  Specialty Doctors,  ST3+ and  CTs providing a comprehensive quality service in this modern District General Hospital.

Hours per week: 12.7 PAs

 

Main duties of the job

Applicants should have at least 4 years’ anaesthetic experience. The contract is full time, 12.7 PA’s per week and resident whilst on-duty. The on call commitment is on a 1 in 8 basis for both first and second on call. Included within the 12.7 PAs is protected time for continuing professional development. Duties include provision of anaesthesia for a variety of surgical lists and covering ITU whilst on-call.

To provide Anaesthetic care to patients in theatre; supervised lists including pre and post-operative visits and ITU patients. Participation in the on-call rota in line with the EWTD. Doctors will be expected to work flexibly meaning that on some on-calls a middle grade doctor may be carrying the Theatre and Cardiac Arrest bleep, while on other on-calls the same doctor may be carrying the ITU bleep. There will be two on-call resident Anaesthetist.

NHS Medical and Dental salaries are set at a national level.  For new starters not already working to UK Medical and Dental terms and conditions of service will be appointed to the minimum paypoint.  The starting salary paypoint can only be increased when there is evidence of relevant, completed year’s experience in terms of nature, type and level of role.  The evidence required to increase a starting salary would be Payslips and details noted in the application form i.e. complete employment history

Eligibility

Essential criteria
  • Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practice.
  • Evidence of achievement of Foundation by time of appointment in line with GMC standards in Good Medical Practice including: good clinical care,
  • Maintaining good medical practice,
  • Good relationships and communication with patients,
  • Good working relationships with colleagues,
  • Good teaching and training,
  • Professional behaviour and probity and
  • Delivery of good acute clinical care.
  • Evidence of the achievement of ST4 competences in anaesthetics or equivalent experience of 4 years working within anaesthetics.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.

Qualifications

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualifications

Clinical Skills

Essential criteria
  • Wide experience in General Anaesthetics and local anaesthetics techniques
  • Competent in regional and general anaesthesia for both elective and emergency work.
  • Experienced in managing ITU patients in a UK hospital.
