Due to the Trust’s new electronic patient record (EPR), and a recent restructure within Pharmacy leading to creation of senior leadership roles particularly in medicines safety, we are looking to recruit a lead pharmacist for Digital and Medicines Safety.

The Lead Pharmacist will be key to the successful development & launch of the system and following implementation, the role will continue to develop, implement, and support continuous improvements to the EPMA system. They will also support the Medicines Safety Officer with improving medication safety across the Trust

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our team and to develop and lead on services both within the Pharmacy Department, Trust and wider system.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

The roles and duties of this post include:

  • Directly accountable to the Principal Pharmacists, lead for the configuration and delivering Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA) within the DCS Programme.
  • Work with the Medicine Safety Officer (MSO) in the development and implementation of strategies for improving medication safety and reducing the risk associated with medicines use across the Trust
  • Develop, implement, and monitor standards for EPMA and medicines safety functions.
  • To be pharmacy support for drug incident reviews and action plans within specified services.
  • You will also retain clinical pharmacy skills through participation of clinical ward, dispensary, late night and On-call duties.
  • Work alongside other lead pharmacists in delivering collaborative services across the trust.
  • Developing close working relationships with other members of the multi-disciplinary team and contributing to clinical care plans.
  • Providing line management and supervision to pharmacists in the tea

Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Pharmacy (MPharm) or recognised equivalent
  • Post Graduate Clinical Diploma or Masters
  • 12 months pre-registration training
  • Registered with the GPhC (General Pharmaceutical Council)

  • Non-medical prescribing qualification
  • Experience with digital pharmacy systems
  • Relevant IT qualification
  • Experience of developing and maintaining electronic prescribing systems

Knowledge & Skills

  • Computer skills relevant to electronic prescribing system development
  • Knowledge of Medicines Safety issues relevant to pharmacy and medicines management
  • Understanding of medicines legislation and guidance i.e. Medicines Act, Misuse of Drugs Act, Safe and Secure Handling of Medicines, Medicine Guidance Notes, MHRA Alerts
  • Able to work with and influence other grades of staff and professions as part of a team
  • Ability to manage time, people and resources to deliver outcomes
  • Good all round clinical knowledge and practical clinical skills
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply all aspects of regulatory legislation and guidelines to hospital pharmacy.
  • Complete appraisal processes
  • Ability to prioritise competing demands and manage own time effectively for successful delivery.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Experience
