Job overview

We are looking to recruit a full-time/part-time Housekeeper to work at the New Surgical Centre at VIN

The role of the Housekeeper is very diverse but fundamentally the post holder will ensure the ward/theatre areas are kept clean, tidy and well stocked.

They will  liaise with the appropriate departments, to order equipment and report faults and partake in weekly audits.

Main duties of the job

The housekeeper works very closely with the Theatre & Ward senior teams  supporting their role and ensuring the safe and effective running of the Surgical Centre.

The housekeepers role supports the unit in ensuring the setting is clean and safe for patients and staff.

A housekeeper will lead the unit services such as catering, cleaning, equipment and supplies.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The role requires scheduled stock counts and ordering the weekly stock for the unit whilst identifying any equipment in short supply or any issues with stock levels liaising with our stores and preempting any further delays or issues which may arise.

During deliveries, housekeepers check received items to ensure that they function as expected and report any concerns.

The role involves understanding the unit budget and making sure we are ordering within this budget whilst reviewing specialist equipment which may be required as additional expense.

The role requires someone who is well organised with a good standard of written and verbal communication.  Computer skills are an essential part of the job. The ability to work in a team is essential as you will work closely with many professional groups including nursing, procurement and infection control.
