Job overview

**This position is open to staff working at the Trust in the ‘ECT Family’ this includes current East Cheshire NHS Trust employees, both NHSP and ECT bank staff, ISS staff and volunteers at the Trust. Unfortunately, we cannot accept applications from applicants not listed within these groups.**

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Medical Engineering Department at Macclesfield District General Hospital as Technical Manager.

The successful candidate will possess a professional electronics qualification and will have have specialist medical equipment knowledge. You will be significantly experienced and have a proven background in medical equipment maintenance and management. Excellent verbal, written and IT skills are essential. You will be highly competent and dependable, with excellent organisational skills and will be confident to work as an autonomous practitioner.

Hours per week: 37.5

Main duties of the job

The Medical Engineering Technical Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a team of Medical Engineers, and for the delivery of commissioning, planned maintenance, repairs, calibration and decommissioning of complex medical devices in specialist areas of the Acute Trust and community locations.

To support efficient and cost-effective management arrangements for all services relating to medical technologies provided by the department and to ensure effective and efficient management of the department resources.

Act as the point of reference for technical and professional advice and support to a team of Medical Engineers.

The post holder shall work with other Directorates/Divisions when required in the pursuit of corporate aims and objectives in relation to the use and management of medical technologies and visions of the Trust.

  • Professional electronics knowledge gained to graduate level
  • Specialist knowledge acquired through post graduate diploma

Experience

  • Significant experience in medical equipment management
  • Experience of supervising teams
  • Experience of supervising service delivery
Desirable criteria
  • Working in clinical environments

Knowledge & Skills

  • Significant experience in medical equipment maintenance
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products
  • Have knowledge of IEC/EN60601 & IEC/EN62353
  • Have knowledge of Departmental Health & Safety requirements
  • Competent & confident to work as autonomous practitioner
