Job overview

**This position is open to staff working at the Trust in the ‘ECT Family’ this includes current East Cheshire NHS Trust employees, bank staff, ISS staff and volunteers at the Trust.** 

CHAW Integrated Community Nursing and Therapy Team are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic individual to provide administrative and secretarial support to the multi-disciplinary team.

The role is based from Handforth Health Centre, working Monday and Tuesday on a fixed term basis as part of a job share.

The Integrated Community Nursing and Therapy team provide nursing and therapy  interventions and care to patients in their own homes or other community locations for the Chelford, Handforth, Alderley Edge and Wilmslow localities. 

The post holder will often be the first point of contact for patients, their care givers or clinicians therefore we are looking for someone who has excellent verbal and written communication skills as they will be responding to calls, emails and in person queries.  

Computer literacy is essential.

Hours per week: 15.00

Main duties of the job

To provide administrative and secretarial support for the integrated community nursing and therapy care community team. 

The post holder will often be the first point of contact for patients and clinicians and will be expected to work independently using their own initiative with minimal direct supervision.

To support the day-to-day operational functions of the integrated community nursing and therapy teams and undertake any office duties to ensure the efficiency of the administrative service is maintained at all times.

To perform a variety of tasks in support of the patient journey from referral to consultation through to discharge.

To provide an efficient and effective typing and clerical service to support the integrated community nursing and therapy teams.  The post requires IT skills, accurate typing skills and a sound knowledge of medical terminology.

To be proficient in the use of computerised systems for booking and tracking all types of community appointments and patient records ensuring this function is co-ordinated and updated accurately and in a timely manner.

To provide a reasonable level of cover for colleagues in other integrated teams in the event of absence.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • 5 GCSE’s or equivalent, grade C or above. Must include English.
  • 3 A Levels or equivalent qualifications at Level 3, or equivalent
  • Typing qualifications to RSA (Royal Society of Arts) 1 standard.
  • Computer literate to ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) standard or equivalent.
Desirable criteria
  • AMSPAR (The Association of Medical Secretaries, Practice Managers, Administrators and Receptionists) Diploma

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Computer literacy Awareness of current NHS Priorities and targets.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information without compromising confidentiality or trust.
  • Good communicator – able to deal with people at all levels.
Desirable criteria
  • Medical terminology
  • Knowledge of NHS Computer Systems and experience with Patient Management System and Emis system
  • Awareness of NHS policies
