We are looking for an  experienced Senior Clinical Engineer Technician with good problem solving skills to provide technical support to a clinical team made up of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Therapy Assistants. 

The post holder will provide technical expertise in the assessment and prescription of equipment for people with a range of physical and neurological disabilities including modifications for wheelchairs and related equipment.

The post holder will also work closely with the Approved Repair service to oversee the fulfilment of this contracted service.

The successful candidate will have engineering and technical skills that enable them to fit, adjust and modify wheelchair and seating equipment and the knowledge and skills to use the tools required to do this.

They should possess a high attention to detail to enable them to carry out technical work to a high standard and oversee the work carried out by the Approved Repair Service.

They should have a keenness for problem solving to enable them to work out solutions for a range of different issues and be knowledgeable about the different solutions for achieving the desired outcome. 

Experience of working with clients in wheelchairs and specialist seating is desirable.

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides a full range of hospital and community services for people across East Cheshire (population 399K) and West Cheshire and Chester (population 357K).   • Attend wheelchair service clinics, home visits or other appointments to provide technical advice and support in the selection and modification of wheelchair related equipment
  • Assess for and devise modifications/adaptations for wheelchair equipment to meet the service user requirements
  •  Preparation and handover of powered wheelchairs, demonstrating controls, verification of suitability and safe operation by service users, at the time of issue 
  • Undertake minor wheelchair repairs and adjustments and the fitment/adjustment of postural equipment 
  • Monitor and maintain quality control aspects of the work undertaken by the repair service provider in accordance with the contract specification

Qualifications

  • Recognised mechanical engineering qualifications
  • Relevant experience in mechanical engineering/workshop environement
  • Knowledge of quality control procedures in manufacturing/repair industries to ISO standards
