Newborn Hearing Screening Technician

NHS AfC: Band 3

Job overview

An exciting position has opened up for a new staff member to join our small, friendly Newborn Hearing team! The Newborn Hearing Screening Programme (NHSP) is a national initiative which aims to detect permanent hearing impairments in newborn babies at the earliest opportunity.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will become part of a four-technician team that undertakes hearing screening on the maternity ward at Leighton Hospital. The team is integral to the wider Paediatric Audiology service in the Women's & Children's division, which lead by a Consultant Audiovestibular Physician.

The role is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to work a flexible daytime shift pattern. No prior experience of hearing screening is required as full training will be provided, and the candidate will be supported to undertake a fully-funded Level 3 Health Screening diploma.

We are looking for a candidate with experience in a public-facing role, preferably with parents and infants. The candidate should be confident with computers and comfortable working independently post-training.
