Are you a qualified and accredited CBT therapist looking for a rewarding opportunity to work within a supportive team?
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced therapist to join our friendly and multi-disciplinary team at West Cheshire CYPMH. This is a maternity cover role, offering 2 days a week on a fixed-term contract.
In this role, you will be responsible for delivering CBT interventions to children and young people aged 0-18 years old, experiencing a range of emotional and behavioural difficulties. You will work collaboratively with a team of mental health professionals to provide comprehensive care to our service users.
Main duties of the job
During this maternity cover role, the cognitive behavioural therapist will be a valued member of the multidisciplinary Children and Young People's Mental Health Service (CYPMH)
Responsibilities:
- Assess, accept and prioritise referrals to the service, adhering to local CYPMH' Operational Policy.
- Contribute to clinical development, team clinical thinking, and support the clinical leadership team alongside clinical coordinators.

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Relevant degree in nursing, social care of psychology
- CBT certification, accredited by BABCP (British Assoc. of Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapy)
Desirable criteria
- Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology
- Specialist training in Physical Health/Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
Knowledge and expertise
Essential criteria
- Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
- Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
- Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BABCP
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health.
- Specialist knowledge and expertise in relation to a particular problem area (Physical Health/ PTSD).
- Knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practised within the clinical fields of psychology.
- Formal training in supervision of other Cognitive Behavioural Therapists.
- Ability to teach and train others, using a variety of complex multi-media materials suitable for presentations within public, professional and academic settings.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of specialist psychological assessment and intervention with clients presenting with Physical Health and P.T.S.D.
- Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems and verbal and physical abuse.
- Experience of working as a qualified CBT over a minimum of 18 months.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision.
- Experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts.
- Experience of service user and carer involvement in services.
Applicant requirements
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
