Job overview

As a health care support worker in theatre you will provide excellent care for our patients and skilled support for the registrants and the wider theatre team. Prince Philip hospital has 4 theatres in the main building providing care to patients undergoing procedures in Orthopaedic, Breast, Colorectal and Urology. 

Ideally you will have achieved the Agored Cymru Perioperative support in Wales, level 3 or be working towards this qualification. 

There is a commitment to develop all staff groups.

Main duties of the job

You will provide skilled assistance to the registrant and wider perioperative team in the 'circulating' role. Have knowledge of the specialities affiliated with Prince Philip Hospital and provide patient care in accordance with health board policy. 

Participate as a member of the perioperative team and have excellent communication skills and the ability to work to exact timeframes.  

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Qualification Credit Framework - QCF Diploma level 3 (formally NVQ level 3) or equivalent experience
  • Level 3 in Health within one year of appointment or ILM level 3 or equivalent qualification such as E-learning module
Desirable criteria
  • Be prepared to work towards achieving the QCF Diploma

Experience

  • Previous experience in the NHS inclusive of healthcare activities in theatre environment
  • Maintain their personal development
  • Recognises need for lifelong learning
