The salary scale above has been agreed as part of the NHS Agenda for Change pay award for 2024/2025 and will be implemented in November 2024 backdated to 1st April 2024 where applicable.

Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic individual to join our team of Cooks at Withybush General Hospital. The post is 1 x 30 hours per week Monday to Sunday.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will need to be able to work as part of a team producing high quality meals for patients, staff and visitors in a busy kitchen. Being flexible to the needs of the service and previous experience in preparing special dietary needs would be an advantage for this post but not essential as training will be given.
Candidates must have City & Guilds 706/1 & 2 or equivalent , plus basic Food Hygiene certificate
We offer good rates of pay with enhanced weekend rates, pension and an attractive holiday package.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Working for our organisation
Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. We do this in partnership with our three local authorities and public, private and third sector colleagues, including our volunteers, through:
Four main hospitals: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest;
Seven community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron, Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire;
48 general practices (four of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;
Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;
Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.

Essential criteria
- Basic level of general education
- City and Guilds 706 1 and 2 or equivalent
- NVQ Level 3 in Food Preparation
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
- Detailed Food Hygiene knowledge and knowledge of HACCP systems
Desirable criteria
- Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate
- Advanced Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to achieve)
- Health and Safety, COSHH, Moving and Handling knowledge
Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous experience of similar cooks duties
Desirable criteria
- Experience in similar size establishment or organisation
- Experience of special dietary needs
