Job overview
The Waiting List Support Service is a Single Point of Contact for people awaiting treatment and forms part of the 3 Ps Waiting Well Policy, launched in 2023, which promotes healthy lifestyle, prevents patients deteriorating and supporting them to prepare for treatment and recovery.
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Clinical Lead Nurse to be part of this evolving service leading our team of RGN's and non clinical call handlers and working closely with planned care teams and the Optimisation and Prehabilitation service team.
Main duties of the job
Provide specialist nursing knowledge, advice, guidance, support and leadership, and to support the development and lead on delivery of the plan within the defined area, which supports the Waiting List Support Service and Early Optimisation plan for the Health Board.
Provide expert advice and clinical guidance based on evidence based practice.
Work autonomously and manage own workload as a lead clinican within the defined area.
Provide appropriate supervision education and training to staff
Lead and manage a team of individuals.
Clinical activity; telephone consultations, develop clinical resources for patients, Supporting Professional Activity e.g audit, CPD, teaching, research
Document and report clearly to ensure accuracy continuity and enhance understanding of others
Collate and present evidence-based reports to inform service improvement and development.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse (Part 1)
- Current NMC Registration
- Masters Degree or equivalent experience in clinical practice
- Bronze IQT
- Expert level of clinical knowledge
- Knowledge of service improvement
- Able to undertake a literature search and critically appraise research papers
Desirable criteria
- Teaching qualification (or equivalent experience)
- Management qualification (or equivalent experience)
- Advanced clinical knowledge
Experience
Essential criteria
- Relevant experience at Band 6
- Evidence of leadership skills
- Experience of working in a multiprofessional environment
- Proven post registration experience and evidence of coordinating and managing a team of staff
- Experience of working with preregistration nursing/midwifery students in a mentorship role
- Experience of critical appraisal and undertaking audit
- Good knowledge of information governance/data protection requirements
- Experience of using reflective learning to support the development of self and staff
